Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find information about which buses operate in my area?
Use our Plan a journey tool to check which operators and routes serve the stops closest to you. To see the list of Kent bus operators, please visit our Bus Operator Directory.
How can I pay for the bus?
Most buses in Kent support contactless payments — just tell the driver your destination, tap your card or device on the reader and grab your ticket. Many operators also have mobile apps for purchasing tickets ahead of time. Cash is still widely accepted across bus operators, although most buses do not carry a large amount of change so if paying with cash please try to have the exact fare or carry change to help drivers.
What types of bus ticket are available to purchase?
Operators in Kent offer plenty of options, from singles and returns to day tickets and monthly passes. Operator websites provide the most accurate information for the tickets they sell. Kent also has a number of multi-operator tickets, with further information found on our dedicated page.
Do I need to signal for a bus to stop?
Although most bus drivers will stop when they notice passengers at a designated bus stop, it’s always a good idea to give a clear hand signal to make sure they see you.
Can I save my favourite stops or services on Kentbusinfo.co.uk?
Yes, you can bookmark your preferred stops and services for quick access each time you visit this site. To do this, please press the heart symbol ‘Add to favourites'. To access your favourites, please press the heart icon at the top right corner of the home page.
Can I access my journey plan if I am offline?
Once you create your journey plan in our journey planner feature, you will be able to print it or save it as a PDF format. Downloaded PDF files are then saved to your device and are available on the go for viewing offline.
Where do I report a problem with my bus journey?
For service issues including delays and missed buses, please contact your transport operator first. Kent County Council only controls a small number of services which are operated with our financial support. If you are not satisfied with response you receive from the bus operator, please contact the Traffic Commissioner who is responsible for the licensing and regulation of Bus Services. They can be contacted by telephoning 01132 543280 or via email at enquiries@otc.gov.uk.
